The story of the flying puppy

Ella

THIS IS THE STORY OF THE FLYING PUPPY THAT GOT ADOPTED BY A COUPLE WHO ACTUALLY DECIDED NEVER TO COME BACK TO SAINT MARTIN (or how puppies can save tourism in SXM!) LOL

Chapter 1: Year 2008: Bruce and Kim, a loving couple from the U.S. who have been spending time in Saint Martin for almost 12 years decided to get married (after all these years!!) and spend their honeymoon on our island. Once here, Bruce takes up his little habits and goes down early to the beach to get his morning coffee at his favourite beach Restaurant, while Kim stays at the Rental Unit. Suddenly a man forces himself into the apartment, jumped on her and pushed her on the bed. Kim started to scream and after some violence, the guy finally run out again....

Kim has since ever then been shocked and did not want to come back to our island any more. Getting almost raped and robbed on a honeymoon....!!!!

Kim and Bruce are my friends and we kept in touch once they were back home. I did not know what to say about the incident, there is nothing to say besides that I and all their friends were so sorry for what happened to them... I was deeply saddened to hear that they would not come back to this island! They are so cool...! They also are great animal lovers and have helped our association many times, including with fundraisers. But we kept writing mails to each other and then, came this story of the "flying puppy". It was about a puppy that was thrown out of a speeding pick up on the Dutch side..... But let me explain now, how somebody's bad luck can turn into somebody's big happiness!!!

Chapter 2: Animal Welfare organized a fundraiser at Emilio Wilson Park on a Sunday and we all (members of I love my Island Dog Association) decided to be there to support the event. Tina arrives a little later, looking for a place to park her car. Suddenly the police showed up and stopped her. She had not changed her number plates for 2009 yet, the tires were not good enough etc. etc. They confiscated the car. Poor girl she came in tears to the show and we tried to help her, but on a Sunday there was no way to get her car back; as she had to go through all this administrative stuff on Monday. I proposed her my car, but Tina was really p..... and she disappeared very quickly again and went home.

Chapter 3: Monday afternoon: what do I see? Tina walks inn to my shop with a trembling puppy in her arms. I asked her what happened to this puppy....?.She then explained me that while she was walking along the roadside on her way to the Administration building, a speeding pick up throw something out of the car and wondered what this could have been... she checks in the grass and finds a tiny little puppy!!!!!! Big was the surprise!!!! She took it with her and hid it in her bag, as she had to go into the Administration where dogs are not accepted, of course. Later she went to the police station and tried to explain what she saw. Not interesting enough of course..... She continued walking, doing all this annoying things she had to go through (still with the puppy in her arms or bag, till she could get back her car).

Chapter 4: We brought the puppy that we called Angel to the Vet Clinic to check if she was hurt, but Angel was fine!, lucky girl; just a little mangy. We left her there a few days so they could observe her a little bit, then I took Angel home. I discovered an incredible smart little dog. She quickly forgot what happened to her! I started to spread the news to find a super loving home for her. After what she had been through; I would only give her to THE PERFECT HOME!!!

Later I put her on Facebook, where she attracted immediately Bruce's interest. "I'll take her" I read......" Wow; this is great, but how will she get to the States now? Well: Bruce and Kim simply decided to come for her over the week end and take her back home...... And what did they say before?? They said they would never come back to Saint Martin! The whole family; Bruce and Kims daughter and her boyfriend jumped on an airplane and came to pick up Angel that became Ella.

They travelled back with her three days later (flying again!!!!) and Ella behaved very well in her bag during the long trip, because she knew that her life would start from now!!! You know what, this is one of the most amazing stories I can tell. Kim, still had her trauma, but came with her husband and family to fetch the flying puppy in Saint Martin!! What a big proof of love for a doggy! Now Ella lives together with Lina, another island dog Bruce and Kim adopted here last year.

What a happy ending for all of us. Ella got a wonderful home, myself I was so happy to see Bruce and Kim back on the island, and Tina was happy too, after all the misfortune she had, this actually saved a puppy's life!! Let's learn from this to let all the bad things behind us and look forwards!!!Ella and Bruce
